Hi guys new to the forum :D :D
just wanted to ask a question about water softener is it OK to use in a aquarium
we use block salt in the softer

i currently don't have a fish tank im getting a 5ft in about a months time

water softeners use ion exchange to reduce hardness..

basically taking away one thing and replacing it with another, in terms of the softeners usually the replaced one is at least as bad for the fish as the hardness it replaces.

RO is better and safer for the fish + less nitrates as well
