Wild Bettas

Postby Matt H » Thu Apr 06, 2017 9:05 am

So I am in the process of setting up an new tank for a breeding project for some wild bettas. I think I am initially going to start off with Simplex, but would like to know if anyone has had any experience with albimarginata or channoides? I have read that water chemistry isn’t that critical, and these species are very tolerant of water chemistry although soft acidic water is best. My tap water isn’t terribly hard so one of my questions is can I successfully breed either of these species if kept in tap water but lower PH?

None of my local LFS regularly see any of these fish on the import lists so another question is availability, maybe my local maidenhead might be able to help but apart from that are there any shops or breeders of wild bettas.

Thanks in advance
