Are these fins deformed?

Postby Watermania » Wed May 03, 2017 2:21 pm

I picked this acara up 2 days ago and noticed that it had some fin damage, nothing major but it had shared a tank with some GTs that had fin nipped a bit. Looking more closely the pectoral fins appear to hang down and look very odd. Is this normal? It is a young fish at about 5cm so not sure if it will grow into them of this is a deformity.

I've had it just over a week now and already the Acara is looking so much better. It's tail fin is healing well and both that and the anal fin have gained a blue hue. I went back to the fish store and while all the other acaras had 'normal' fins non were as colourful. So, funny fins or not, it is such a nice fish that they're not an issue at all.
