Oase Biotech 10 filter box

Postby kenifboy » Wed May 24, 2017 6:25 pm

I have my filter box set up and running feeding me very clean water. In between the two sets of filters there are 2 round baskets that the water passes through the very bottom of.
Question is.....What are they for?
Cheers for any help.

it will open eventually it has to upload first :)

besides that the baskets in your picture are normally used for surface skimming i.e. stopping leaves or other floating debris from getting to the pipe in the middle..... having said that I have no idea how they work in the case of this filter .... are the small pipes in the centre of the baskets overflows/bypasses by any chance if not no idea.....

No, they are just for placing. The water flows over that middle ridge and the baskets just allow the water to skim under the bottom of them. Leaves and bigger debris would be stopped by the first bank of course filters or possibly by the pump casing itself.

Detective daz has solved your issue they are filter baskets for the use of zeolite or other chemical filtration that you would like to add ...apparently but how this works when the water level is below them (or just at their base) is beyond me

If it was a slow dissolving substance then the water flow would slowly dissolve the stuff and mix it into your flow.
I kinda guessed that this would be their use but needed to ask.
