Do my Fantails look healthy?

Postby Lloyd's Aquatics » Mon Jul 10, 2017 3:35 pm

Hi first time poster here so go easy haha!
Basically I have just moved my Fancy Goldfish back in from their pond and the smaller ones have put on a lot of weight and look heavy bodied but I want to make sure they don't have bloat or early stages of it, so I thought I would ask the many readers of PFK that keep Goldfish.
I will attach some pictures I took of them last night after I had added them to their tank and would love to hear your thoughts, and any tips are appreciated!
Thanks,

It is sometimes difficult with fancy goldfish as they sometimes do have quite large bodies and can vary massively. I must admit the photos do look like they have a bit of a large abdomen. Do you feed them any vegetable matter? Mine used to love peas and it keeps things moving for them nicely. Another thing you could try is adding some Epsom salts if they seem a bit off balance.
Swim bladder is a common problem for fancy goldfish so keep an eye on how they are swimming.
