Moss Balls

They look interesting.

Can anyone tell me about them?

They're round and green and if they get too fluffy you can spread them out and stick them to bits of wood, rock, or even line the bottom or sides of a tank with them. Otherwise leave them to roll around on the bottom (if they don't roll, then you have to turn them every so often so they grow nice and round.) Some fish will see them as a nice snack and tear them apart.
Loaches and minnows and shrimp! Oh my!

are they fussy about water hardness?

Not so far as I know. They seem fine in my liquid rock.
