Hi from a newbie

Just saying hi, I sort of rescued 3 fish from someone who didn't seem to have much interest in them and was threatening to flush them down the toilet, they looked pretty neglected. The tank is an aqua start 320 it had a heater so I assume the fish are tropical but I knew absolutely nothing about fish keeping so have been trying to increase my knowledge so I can provide the fish with a healthy environment. The heater seemed to be broken as the water only seemed to match room temperature, I bought a 50w heater and it now have it sitting at 25 degrees give or take a smidge.
The filter is a Aqua One 101f Maxi.
I think I have a good water change/ gravel cleaning schedule but like I said I don't know much.
I'd like to upgrade the filter and will lost in the relevant section re this as I am enjoying it all and may very well move to a slightly larger tank at some point.
Thanks for reading

Do you know yet what sort of fish you have in your tank?
